संकट मोचन हनुमान अष्टक (हनुमान आष्टक) श्री हनुमान जी को समर्पित एक प्रसिद्ध भक्तिमय स्तुति है, जिसकी रचना गोस्वामी तुलसीदास जी ने की थी। यह रचना हिंदी भक्ति साहित्य की महत्वपूर्ण कृतियों में गिनी जाती है। इस अष्टक में भगवान हनुमान की महिमा का वर्णन आठ श्लोकों में किया गया है और अंत में एक दोहा शामिल है।

अधिकांश हनुमान मंदिरों में हनुमान चालीसा के बाद संकट मोचन हनुमान अष्टक का पाठ किया जाता है। नियमित पाठ से संकटों का नाश, मानसिक शांति, पारिवारिक सुख और स्वास्थ्य लाभ प्राप्त होता है।

यह अष्टक शिक्षा, करियर, न्यायिक मामलों और जीवन की बाधाओं में सफलता दिलाने में सहायक माना जाता है। भक्तजन अपने और अपने परिवार के कल्याण के लिए इसका श्रद्धापूर्वक जाप करते हैं।

श्री संकटमोचन हनुमानाष्टक का हिन्दी अर्थ। 

बाल समय रबि भक्षि लियो तब, तीनहुँ लोक भयो अँधियारो।

ताहि सो त्रास भयो जग को, यह संकट काहुँ सो जात न टारो।

देवन आनि करी बिनती तब, छाँड़ि दियो रवि कष्ट निवारो।

को नहिं जानत है जग मे कपि, संकट मोचन नाम तिहारो॥१॥

अर्थ 

बचपन  में जिसने सूर्य को निगल  लिया था और तीनों लोक में अंध्कार फेहेल गया था, पुरे जग में संकट का समय था जिसे कोई टाल नहीं पा रहा था,  सभी देवताओं ने इनसे प्रार्थना करी कि सूर्य को आज़ाद कर दे और हम सभी की पीड़ा को दूर करें . कौन नहीं जानता ऐसे कपि को जिनका नाम ही हैं संकट मोचन जिसका  अर्थ है  संकट को हरने वाला।

बालि की त्रास कपीस बसै गिरि, जात महा प्रभु पंथ निहारो।

चौंकि महामुनि साप दियो तब, चाहिए कौन बिचार बिचारो।

कै द्विज रुप लिवाय महाप्रभु सो तुम दास के सोक निवारो।

को नहिं जानत है जग में कपि संकट मोचन नाम तिहारो॥२॥

अर्थ 

बालि के डर से सुग्रीव और उनकी सेना पर्वत पर रहते थे उन्होनें श्री रामचन्द्रजी को आते देखा, उन्होनें आपको पता लगाने के लिए भेजा। आपने अपना ब्राह्मण का रुप धर कर के प्रभु राम जी से पुकार की और उनको अपने साथ लिवा लाये, जिससे आपने सुग्रीव के दुखों का निवारण किया। हे, प्रभु हनुमानजी, संसार मे ऐसा कौन है जो आपके संकट मोचन नाम से परिचित नहीं है।

अंगद के संग लेन गए सिय, खोज कपीस यह बैन उचारो।

जीवत ना बचिहौ हम सों जु, बिना सुधि लाए इहाँ पगु धारो।

हेरि थके तट सिंधु सबै तब, लाए सिया सुधि प्रान उबारो।

को नही जानत है, जग मे कपि संकट मोचन नाम तिहारो॥३॥

अर्थ 

सुग्रीव ने अंगद के साथ सीता माँ  की खोज के लिए अपनी सेना को भेजते हुए कह दिया था कि अगर  सीता जी का पता लगाकर ना  लौटे तो हम तुम सब को मार देंगे । जब सब पता लगाने में नकाम हो गए। तब आप समुद्र के तट से कूद कर सीता जी का पता लगाकर लाये और  सबके प्राण बचाएँ। हे हनुमान जी संसार मे ऐसा कौन है, जो आपके संकट मोचन नाम से परिचित नहीं है।

रावण त्रास दई सिय को सब, राक्षसि सो कहि सोक निवारो।

ताहि समय हनुमान महाप्रभु , जाय महा रजनीचर मारो।

चाहत सिय अशोक सों आगि सु, दै प्रभु मुद्रिका शोक निवारो।

को नहीं जानत हैं, जग मे कपि संकट मोचन नाम तिहारो॥४॥

अर्थ 

रावण ने सीता माता को बहुत भयभीत किया और अपने दुखो को निवारण करने के लिए राक्षसों की शरण में आने कहा, तब रात्री के समय हनुमान जी वहाँ पहुँचे और उन्होंने सभी राक्षसों का वध करके  अशोक वाटिका में माता सीता को खोज निकाला और उन्हें भगवान् राम की अंगूठी देकर माता सीता के कष्टों का अंत किया। हे हनुमान जी संसार मे ऐसा कौन है, जो आपके संकट मोचन नाम से परिचित नहीं है।

बान लग्यो उर लक्षिमण के तब, प्राण तजे सुत रावन मारो।

लै गृह वैद्य सुषेन समेत, तबै गृह द्रोन सु बीर उपारो।

आनि सजीवन हाथ दई तब, लछिमन के तुम प्रान उबारो।

को नहिं जानत हैं जग मे कपि संकट मोचन नाम तिहारो॥५॥

अर्थ 

रावण के सुपुत्र इन्द्रजीत के शक्ति के प्रहार से लक्षमण बेहोश हो जाते हैं उनके प्राणों की रक्षा के लिए हनुमान जी वैद्य सुषेन को उनके घर के साथ उठा कर लाते हैं और उनके कहने पर बूटियों के पहाड़ को उठाकर ले आते हैं और लक्षमण को संजीवनी देकर उनके प्राणों को बचा लेते है। हे हनुमान जी संसार मे ऐसा कौन है, जो आपके संकट मोचन नाम से परिचित नहीं है।

रावन जुद्ध अजान कियो तब, नाग की फाँस सबै सिर डारो।

श्री रघुनाथ समेत सबै दल, मोह भयो यह संकट भारो।

आनि खगेस तबै हनुमान जु, बन्धन काटि सुत्रास निवारो।

को नहि जानत है जग मे कपि,संकट मोचन नाम तिहारो॥६॥

अर्थ 

प्रभु राम और  लक्षमण मूर्छित हो जाते हैं जब रावण दोनों पर नाग पाश चलाता है।  तब दोनों ही और सभी पर संकट का प्रभाव छा जाता हैं।  नाग पाश के अनुबंध से केवल गरुड़ राज ही  विमुक्त करवा सकते थे . तब हनुमान उन्हें लाते हैं और सभी के पीड़ा का निष्कासन करते हैं। हे हनुमान जी संसार मे ऐसा कौन है, जो आपके संकट मोचन नाम से परिचित नहीं है।

बंधु समेत जबै अहिरावण, लै रघुनाथ पाताल सिधारो।

देविहिं पूजि भली विधि सों बलि, देउ सबै मिलि मंत्र बिचारो।

जाय सहाय भयो तब ही, अहिरावन सैन्य समेत संहारो।

को नहिं जानत है जग में कपि, संकट मोचन नाम तिहारो॥७॥

अर्थ 

एक क्षण जब अहिरावण और रावण दोनों भाई भगवान राम को पाताल लोक लेकर चले जाते हैं तब हनुमान अपने मंत्र और पराक्रम से पाताल लोक जाकर अहिरावन और उसकी सेना का संहार करके प्रभु  राम को वापस लाते हैं।  हे हनुमान जी संसार मे ऐसा कौन है, जो आपके संकट मोचन नाम से परिचित नहीं है।

काज किए बड़ देवन के तुम, बीर महाप्रभु देखि बिचारो।

कौन सो संकट मोर गरीब को, जो तुमसे नहिं जात है टारो।

बेगि हरो हनुमान महाप्रभु, जो कछु संकट होए हमारो।

को नहीं जानत है जग में कपि, संकटमोचन नाम तिहारो॥८॥

अर्थ 

आपने देवी-देवताओं और प्रभु श्री राम की सेवा में अद्भुत कार्य किए हैं। हे प्रभु, मुझ पर अपनी कृपा बनाए रखें। मुझे यह समझने की शक्ति दें कि आपकी कृपा से कौन सी बाधा टिक सकती है आपकी एक करुणामयी दृष्टि मुझे कठिन से कठिन कार्य करने का साहस, धैर्य और सच्चा समर्पण दे सकती है। हे प्रभु,आप ही मेरे मार्गदर्शक और गुरु हैं, इसलिए मेरे जीवन में आने वाली हर रुकावट को दूर करें। पूरी दुनिया जानती है कि आपका नाम संकट मोचन हनुमान है, जो सभी कष्टों और बाधाओं का नाश करते हैं। आप अपने ज्ञान के प्रकाश से अज्ञान रूपी अंधकार को मिटा देते हैं।

लाल देह लाली लसे, अरु धरि लाल लंगूर।

बज्र देह दानव दलन, जय जय जय कपि सूर॥

अर्थ 

शरीर लाल है आपका। पूँछ लाल है आपकी। लाल वस्त्र के साथ आपने लाल सिंदूर भी लगा रखा है। आपका शरीर बज्र है, और आप दुष्टों का अंत करते है। हे हनुमानजी आपकी जय हो, जय हो, जय हो॥

Meaning

In his childhood, Lord Hanuman once swallowed the Sun, which caused darkness to spread across the three worlds. It became a time of great crisis, and no one was able to resolve it. All the gods prayed to him to release the Sun and free everyone from suffering.

Who does not know such a mighty devotee, whose very name is Sankat Mochan, meaning “the remover of troubles.”

Baali ki traas kapees basai giri,

jaat mahaaprabhu panth nihaaro ।

Chownki mahaa muni saap diyo tab,

chahiy kaun bichaar bichaaro ।

Kai dwij roop liwaay mahaa prabhu,

so tum daas ke sok niwaaro ।

Meaning

Because of Bali’s fear, Sugriva and his army were living on a mountain. When they saw Lord Shri Ram approaching, Sugriva sent Hanuman to find out who he was. Hanuman took the form of a Brahmin and respectfully spoke to Lord Ram, then brought him to Sugriva. In this way, he helped end Sugriva’s suffering.

Angad ke sang lain gaye siya,

khoj kapees yah baain uchaaro ।

jeevat na bachihau hum son ju,

bina sudhi laay ehaan pagu dhaaro ।

laay siya-sudhi praan ubaaro ।

Ko nahin jaanat hai jag mein kapi,

sankat mochan naam tiharo ॥3॥

Meaning

Sugriva sent his army along with Angad to search for Mother Sita and warned them that if they returned without finding her, they would be punished with death. When everyone failed to discover her whereabouts, Hanuman took a mighty leap across the ocean from the seashore and finally found Sita Mata. By doing so, he saved the lives of all the warriors.

Raavan traas dayee siya ko sab,

raakshashi so kahi sok nivaaro ।

Taahi samay hanuman mahaprabhu,

Meaning

Ravana greatly frightened Mother Sita and tried to force her to surrender to the demons to end her suffering. During the night, Lord Hanuman reached Lanka, defeated the demons, and searched through Ashok Vatika until he found Sita Mata. He gave her Lord Ram’s ring as a sign of hope and reassurance, bringing comfort to her in her time of distress.

Baan lagyo ur lakshiman ke tab,

praan taje sut raavan maaro ।

Lai griha baidya sushen samet,

tabai giri dron su beer upaaro ।

Meaning

When Ravana’s son Indrajit struck Lakshman with his powerful weapon, Lakshman fell unconscious. To save his life, Lord Hanuman lifted the physician Sushen along with his house and brought him to the battlefield. On Sushen’s advice, Hanuman carried the entire mountain of medicinal herbs and brought it back. With the life-saving Sanjeevani herb, Lakshman’s life was restored.

Raavan yudh ajaan kiyo tab,

naag ki phaas sabhi sir daaro ।

Sri Raghunath samet sabai dal,

Meaning

When Ravana used the Nag Pash (serpent weapon) on Lord Ram and Lakshman, both brothers fell unconscious, and a deep crisis surrounded everyone. They could only be freed from the serpent bonds by Garuda, the king of birds. Lord Hanuman swiftly brought Garuda to the battlefield, and with his arrival, the serpent spell was broken and everyone’s suffering was removed.

Meaning

At one time, Ahiravan and his brother Ravana secretly took Lord Ram to the underworld (Patal Lok). Using his strength, wisdom, and divine powers, Lord Hanuman entered Patal Lok, defeated Ahiravan and his army, and safely brought Lord Ram back.

Meaning

You have performed extraordinary deeds in the service of the gods and Lord Shri Ram. O Lord, please keep your blessings upon me. Grant me the wisdom to understand that with your grace, no obstacle can stand in my way. Your compassionate glance can give me the courage, patience, and true devotion needed to accomplish even the most difficult tasks.

O Lord, you are my guide and my Guru. Please remove every obstacle that comes into my life. The whole world knows you as Sankat Mochan Hanuman, the destroyer of all troubles and hardships. With the light of your divine knowledge, you remove the darkness of ignorance.
